Bathed in bright sunshine, SOCON Sonar Control Kavernenvermessung GmbH celebrated its 25th company anniversary on 16 June 2016 with a major event at its headquarters in Giesen, Germany.
More than 150 guests accepted the invitation and participated in the event on the company premises in Giesen. Among those present were well known figures from the world of politics and business. Guests of honour were Ms Ines Kolmsee, Executive Board Member for Engineering of EWE Aktiengesellschaft, Mr Bernd Westphal, Member of Parliament for Hildesheim in the German Bundestag and Speaker of the Economic Affairs and Energy Workgroup, as well as Mr Andreas Lücke, Mayor of Giesen municipality. After the guests had been welcomed by Dr Andreas Reitze, Managing Director of SOCON, Ms Kolmsee, representing SOCON’s majority shareholder, highlighted the 25 years of successful cooperation with EWE AG: ”With its innovative portfolio SOCON is a true hidden champion. And we too in the EWE Group are proud of this.“ Subsequently she, together with Mr Paul Grönefeld, Managing Director of EWE GASSPEICHER GmbH, presented a symbolic ship’s bell to SOCON’s “captain”. ”SOCON would not be the successful medium-sized company it is today without its employees,“ said Mr Westphal. ”Special thanks are due to you for your immense commitment,” and added that he’s looking forward to the next 25 years. Mr Lücke, Mayor of Giesen, emphasised the significance and importance of medium-sized companies such as SOCON for the Giesen community and the Hildesheim region. Next, Hartmut von Tryller, founder and former managing director of SOCON, held the first of three talks. He recounted the origin of SOCON in his chronicle ”How it all began“. Dr Reitze followed by talking about how the company has developed and Frank Haßelkus, General Manager of SOCON, concluded by demonstrating the development of SOCON technologies since 1991 and giving an outlook on future projects.
